There had been no signals received from its tracking collar since September. The tiger was found with a cub.

"Recently, scientists involved in studying the tiger population in the Far East changed its collar," Putin"s press secretary said.

He said a tracking collar was also put on the cub"s neck.

Putin visited the Reserve of the Russian Academy of Sciences" Far Eastern Department last August, gaining an insight into a program to study and preserve the Siberian tiger population.
